So I made a goal to come and blog at least once a week and I made it back this week even though it has been a crazy, crazy week. I went home early on Monday with a migraine... Better now thank god because when I went into work I was in a crappy mood and it was probably better for my job status (keeping it that is) that I was home.
Sabrina has had practice all week preparing for Divisional Finals on Saturday. They all have worked so hard this season and we only have one competition left and then Community night. All the girls can do now is take it out on the court and perform the best they have ever done. I will be posting a video after Saturday... I'll try not to scream or yell in the video but I can't promise anything. :)
Last night I made Scotcharoos.... Name sounds strange but oh man they were great! I took some to work today and they were gone in 3 hours... When I say some. I took 1/2 of a 13x9 pan cut into small squares. I think I am making more next week and bringing them in again.
I am also getting my St. Patrick's Day menu together off of the AllRecipes UK site... Not sure exactly what I am making but know that there will be colcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage), either lamb chops or a Guinness Stew and who knows what else.
I know this sounds strange but I am already planning our Spring Break for next year... Yes 2013! Sabrina and I are going on a cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Grand Cayman. I have been looking online and researching... If anyone has any tips or anything, please let me know.
Well I am off for now... until we meet again God Bless and Good Cooking.
Who knows what I am going to be talking about today... I could be about family, food or nothing at all.

February.... Oh What A Month!
Yes... I know it is February 29th but this has been a oh so busy month for me. With 2 birthdays (Sabrina and Amanda's), three color guard practices (for Sabrina) during the week and all-day competitions on Saturday's, work (yuck), and Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador (see notice on the upper left) I am surprised I have found time to breathe this month.
Let's start off with Birthdays... Sabrina turned 15 on February 21 and Amanda turned 25 on February 22. Sabrina's birthday celebrations always last a couple of days... so on Sunday February 19 we spent the afternoon and evening in downtown Indianapolis. We started off at The Rathskeller (http://www.rathskeller.com/) which is set in the historic, 19th century Athenaeum Building downtown Indianapolis, The Rathskeller is reminiscent of both a quaint inn tucked in the Bavarian hills and a lively beer hall in Munich. We had a great lunch of assorted German sausages and one of the best desserts I have ever had... German Chocolate Cheesecake. The Rathskeller is a must try for anyone who enjoys German Food.
After lunch, we went to the Indiana War Memorial (http://www.in.gov/iwm/2333.htm). This memorial is so beautiful and has the history of Indiana going back to the beginning. When we walked in there were quite a few gentleman there as well and we found out that the monthly meeting of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Tuskegee Division were meeting. I am always so emotional when going to places like this because these men and woman gave their lives for the freedoms that we have and I am so thankful for them. When we were walking in I took a picture and it says it all.
ENTER WITH REVERENCE, LEAVE WITH PRIDE
After the Indiana War Memorial, Sabrina and I had a couple of hours to spare before going to the Pacers Game so we did what girls do and went shopping... We went to Circle Center Mall and window shopped until we came to Bath and Body Works and they had a great sale.... Buy 3 get 3 Free... Can't pass up that deal.
After the shopping we went to Bankers Life Fieldhouse and went to the Pacers Game with my Mom and Aunt Linda... It was a great game and we kicked some butt...
Tuesday on Sabrina's actual birthday we went and saw Journey 2. It wasn't bad but I like the first one better.
Next.... Color Guard. Sabrina is on the Varsity Color Guard at her School. Their program is called "Fix You" and it is bringing awareness to child abuse. They have practices three days during the week and then all day competitions on Saturday.
Below is a video of their program at Heritage High School in which they placed 6th. The following week at Goshen High School they placed 5th. We have Divisional Finals on March 10th and hope to do well there.

The month of February for Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador was devoted to Fiber One®. One of our activities was to make Fiber One® Chocolate-Peanut Butter Haystacks Cookies (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/fiber-one-chocolate-peanut-butter-haystacks/detail.aspx). These cookies were great! We also had to make our own personal recipe and and I made a Rolled Up Meatloaf (http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/63130516/rolled-up-meatloaf/detail.aspx). I was actually pretty surprised it turned out as well as it did and have already made it again.
I want to leave off with my Church's Do Something Now campaign for the month of February and March. We are helping the organization Word Made Flesh (www.wordmadeflesh.org) who works directly with those in the sex trade in Boliva and helps them get out of it. When a woman feels that there is no other option, she may turn to the streets. Maybe hungry tummies await her at hom or debts crowd heavy around her. Maybe he beats her viciously and she's trapped. Over time she withers away, hating what she does yet unable to see any way out. Word Made Flesh desires to see holistic transformation through Christ Jesus for those who prostitute in Boliva. I know this is a touchy subject but thought I would make others aware of it as well.
Until next week because I am blogging again next week (I hope)....

Busy Weekend (Kind of)!
I had a great and relaxing long weekend. We saw two movies… Sabrina had practice twice. And I read a couple of books. Made a crock-pot meal for the AllRecipes AllStars Program took a picture and reviewed it. We went to church. If you want more details read below….
Friday… We didn’t do much because Sabrina was going to have practice early Saturday morning.
Saturday… Sabrina had practice from 8:00am to 2:00pm for Winter Guard and then had a parent preview at 3:00pm for all of the family members since the practices have been closed and we haven’t been able to see their program yet. It was great and they have been working so hard. They still have a little more to work on but they look so much better than what they did for marching band. Their show is titled “Fix You” and is about child abuse awareness. After practice and the parent preview, we went home and ate my AllRecipes AllStar crock-pot meal. I made Slowly Deviled Beef on egg noodles and it turned out pretty good. It needed something but couldn’t figure out what… You can find the recipe here… http://allrecipes.com/recipe/slowly-deviled-beef/Detail.aspx. After dinner, we ran some errands. After our errands, we went and saw the new movie Joyful Noise. We actually really liked this movie. Great music!!! I actually had to cover Sabrina’s mouth a couple of times so that she wouldn’t start singing right along with them…
Sunday… We got up and went to church. I have to say that I absolutely love our church. I feel a sense of calm when I walk in and it tends to last me until we go back the next Sunday. People at work have noticed a change in me as well so I attribute it to this church and having GOD in my life. Please see below regarding our DO SOMETHING NOW for January 2012. After church, we went to a great lunch at Red Lobster where we ate way too much and will have to make up for it this week. After lunch we went and saw our second movie of the weekend…. You need to remember I have a girl. And growing up it was all about princesses so we went and saw Beauty and the Beast 3D. They did a great job on the 3D part of it and Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite princess Disney movie. We went home after the movie and spent the night watching and catching up on our shows… Sunday nights are Once upon A Time and Guy & Rachel Celebrity Cook Off.
Monday… Our original plan was to go to the Indiana State Museum and the Fogo de Choa for dinner but plans fell through because of Color Guard practice…. So we revised them to just run errands but those fell through as well because Sabrina’s dad wanted to see her so I just went over to Mia’s and watched Water for Elephants. Wow what a movie. I am not saying it should be up for an Oscar but there were some parts I was like “Oh my God is this really happening”.
Today…. (Tuesday January 17, 2012) I am taking my child and signing her up for Drivers Education… I can’t believe I have a child that is almost old enough to drive.
Now back to the DO SOMETHING NOW at my church….
Malaria is a preventable, treatable disease, yet a child dies of malaria is not treated and cerebral malaria develops in as quickly as two days. Once this happens, a child can slip into a coma and eventually die. Families in poverty need help dealing with this potentially fatal disease. Many cannot afford insecticide-treated mosquito nets or medical treatment. This is where you can help. Make a difference by purchasing a mosquito net for $10.00. Go to www.compassion.com to purchase a mosquito net and make a difference.

Happy New Year and Allrecipes Allstars Progam
Let's s start of by saying HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yes, I know I am a few (9 days) late but computer glitches have hit both computers at home. Mine needs a new power cord and a lovely (NOT!!!) virus has hit Sabrina's. Hoping that we can have Sabrina's repaired this week.
With the New Year brings resolutions… but I don’t want to say that I have a resolution. I am having a change in the way I am living my life. Sabrina and I are both learning to eat better, eat smaller portions and exercise more. Sabrina has already lost 5 pounds and I am so proud of her.
So, I received an email from Ivory at Allreceipes.com and I have been invited to the 2012 Allrecipes Allstars Program. I am so excited because Allreceipes.com is my most favorite website to get recipes and chat with other cooks. I look forward to sharing my adventures with the AllStar Program with my readers.
At our Church (CrossRoads Church @ Westfield) (www.crcw.org) we have a monthly Do Something Now project. Look out for more details and how you can help too.
I am looking forward to this year and as always hoping that this year is better than last year.
